rivits...
I assume you are working on the secc1 package...
you will need to disassemble the whole cartridge...don't expect to be able to reuse it...you will most likely damage it when removing...but the plastic does absolutly nothing (ok maybe it helps support the cartridge in the socket...but it is not necissary)
If you are planning to put this on a slot 1 piii...Kudos to you!!
Big pII heatsinks with a moderate size fan on a piii make for a great cooling solution...for more info on putting an secc1 heatsink on an secc2 cpu just ask...
Anyhow...once you pry open the big cartridge (after pulling out the hack saw

) you will encounter 2 metal clips that are putting presure onto the PCB the cpu is mounted on...you will have to carefully bend away the chunks of metal (on the 2 clips) that are digging into the 4 pins that hold the heatsink to the processor...
Once you remove them (the pressure applying clips) you can bend the "chunks" that grip the pins back to their original state and re-use them...
Sounds confuzing but once you crack the cartridge open you should see what i mean...
