I have an acer laptop running Windows 7. I did a windows 7 update in the morning that afternoon I had problems re-starting the computer. Internet Explorer wasn't working saying page could not be displayed and Norton was playing up as well. I have completed a startup repair and got this error message;Repair Action: system files integrity check and repair.
Result failed. Error code = 0 x 45d.
Time taken - 1569027ms

So we conclude that in some way the last update or patch windows installed caused the problems.

Turn the laptop on.
Press the F8 key until the windows boot options ect are presented.

Load windows 7 in to safe mode.

In the search box type: System restore.
Select a checkpoint before the patch was installed.
Restore to that point in time.
