I created my Windows 7 repair disk before I installed a SSD and cofigured the system (icluding BIOS) to support AHCI on the SATA connections. I can boot from from this Rescue CD o the PATA channel, and the rescue//recovery software runs, but I don't think that it can read or write to the disk with Windows on it because the rescue/recovery software does not 'talk' AHCI. Is there a way of inserting an AHCI driver onto the repair disc? Alternatively, If I make another Repair disc on my current system, would the AHCI driver be included?

It´s more likely that your windows has passed away.
What happened with it?
Did it freeze, shutdown, crash,...bluescreen or error messages?

Does the SSD appear in BIOS?

Can´t you load into safe mode without the rescue disk?

Boot with a linux distribution like Ubuntu live (you won´t have to install it, just boot the live version) and have a look if your SSD is recognized. Can you access your files on it there?
I made it via the Windows Control Panel:
System and Security, Backup your computer, Create a System Repair Disc.

I did this before I configured Windows to access the SATA channels in AHCI mode.

That's right, Windows Rescue can't find any operating systems on the hard drive, so comes up with an empty list. I think that this is because the Windows Rescue software is not able to access the HDD that Windows is on because it is configured in the BIOS as an AHCI device.
