Hi - I'm new to this forum, although I have often researched topics on tom's Hardware and found it to be a great resource. I'm hoping someone can help me.
I have changed my ADSL router as the previous Belkin router was becoming unstable. The new router was provided by my BB provider, Vodafone and it is a Huawei Technologies HG556a, with H/W version HG55VDFA Ver.C. The repeater is a TP-Link Model TL-WR841ND.
As far as I can recall when I had it working with the Belkin ADSL connected by cable, it was just a plug and play setup. Now however when I reconnect the TP Link to the Huawei, while I can connect wireless devices to it and even though the the Internet light is lighting, I cannot get internet access. When I connect the same devices to the ADSL router, web access if fine. I can only connect to the TP Link router wirelessly - my main PC which is cable connected to the ADSL router and I am unable to connect to the TPLink Homepage. Both routers had the same IP address (default 192.168.1.1) under LAN settings so I changed the repeater to 192.168.1.10. Still I cannot get www access nor can I connect from my PC. I have also reset both routers.
You have probably guessed from the above that I am no IT expert, but normally I can muddle my way through these issues, but I am stuck and would appreciate some advice!
UPDATE****
I have managed to get the repeater access point working by restting both routers.
However the main PC which is attached to the main ADSL Huawei router by ethernet cable seems to have a slower connection. When I looked at the Windows mapping it seems to show that the PC is connecting through the repeater and then to the ADSL router which is described as a "switch". Both routers share the same IP address. Can anyone shed any light on how to correctly set this up. I have tried the solution described in the Stickies but couldn't get that to work in any fashion.
