Replace AMD w Intel HP pavilion Dv7

Help, I have A HP Pavilion Dv7 1264 with AMD Turion x2 64 bit. I tried running Mastercam X at my friends work, and the HASP would not work when I plugged it in. It only seems to work with Intel. Is this a problem with my computer ? Mastercam has not gotten back to me yet. Is it possible to replace my AMD with Intel and what would my limitations be. Thanks. I am interested because I am in school for CAD/CAM. Any Advice ?

Processor brands dont mix. If you have an amd processor then the motherboard is ONLY for amd processors and an intel processor wont work with it and i doubt it would even fit in the socket. If your trying to do Mastercam X though it (oddly) says that it only supports intel processors for some reason.

Thanks for the info. I saw that on their web site too, only for intel compatible Processors, but other people, who I guess don't know alot, say there is no difference as far as programs go. Guess I'll have to win the lotto and but an Intel Home computer. Thanks

If it works for Intel, it will work for AMD, only exception if it requires a specific subset of special instructions like SEE4 or if program checks for cpu's identification string for Intel tagging.
