Replace Gigabyte ga-x79-ud3

Solution
No X79 boards are in production that I know of. The only new products available are literally $400 or more and they aren't ATX, intended for servers and you would have to have a special case to fit them.

X79 chipset boards are the only option for any processor that would have been in them. X99 uses a similar socket, but uses DDR4 rather then DDR3 and is not backwards compatible. Might be some C602 boards out there, but generally people just replace failed hardware at this price level.

You are looking at around $600 or more to replace the CPU, Motherboard, and RAM. That is pretty much the only 'in production' fix.
Pretty much Ebay is your only option. Might post a WTB here or on a place like reddit.com/r/hardwareswap

Those boards have been out of production a while. You might be able to find a refurb server for a reasonable price with an X79 board on newegg though. Just filter on the appropriate Xeon or i7 processor and see what happens.

can you recommend a different comparable board that is still in production? Even a newer board? This guy gave me $400 to work with on replacing it. If i can upgrade him and /or save him some money that would be ideal. Im at the mercy of others who know more than me. I haven't gamed or built gaming machines for 3 years.

This is just some guys gaming rig. So it sounds like its not even necessary for what he wants to use it for. His case is some humongous gaming case. Can you recommend a great gaming motherboard that I could suggest to him since it sounds like someone sold him something he has no need for. All he has is one stick of 8gb(?) ram and one gfx card in it. This thing has dual bios (never knew that was a thing) and quad(?) gfx sli capability? Seems like he bought a tractor trailer to haul a sand bag,
