Replace M4N78-AM-ASUS

Hello, can I replace a dead M4N78-AM-ASUS mBoard with N68S3B-Biostar Mboard. I have a Athlon II chip. Thanks

Yes but you will at minimum have to do repair install of windows and re activate.

Might as well take the opportunity to upgrade your cpu as well.

I was given the system with the dead board, i cant spend any cash apart from Mboard & ram(current ram is ddr2)

So another question is. I have read in several places that the Athlon II chip maxes out at 1066mhz ram.

Does this mean that 1666mhz ram wont work with that chip ir will it just rubn at the slower speed.

I know Mboard slots limit ram speed and they just slow down, but this is the first time I have heard of a cpu having a ram limit.

Faster ram usually has no issues running slower.
