So um I was wondering if my i5 2310 @2.9 GHz and 8gb (4x2) and GTX 950 would be able to game at 1080p medium for the next 2 years or do I need to change my chip coz I don't have enough funds to get a new mobo with ddr4 RAM and a new CPU but if you guys think I should change my chip to skylake then I'll start saving up otherwise I was planning to upgrade in 2018

Solution
When you start noticing a big dip in FPSes, just change the video card. That CPU is no slouch, so it should be OK with whatever you throw at it for 2 more years. The video card though... Depending on the games, of course, you might need a new one before then.

Cheers!

Thanks actually i can get a newer card later but the problem is that a good skylake chip itself costs a lot , enough for a new gpu not to mention all the new stuff like DDR4 ram but if my current CPU is good enough for 2 more years then I can finally lay it to rest in 2018 and not worry about buying a new chip now now

No problem. And in the off chance games start demanding more RAM, you could also see about getting dual 8GB sticks. Having 16GB of RAM might come in handy to lengthen the life of your computer a tad more.

Cheers!
