Hello I have this PC

Motherboard: aorus x470 ultra gaming
CPU: AMD Ryzon 2600
RAM: HyperX Predator DDR4 HX432C16PB3K2/16 - 16GB Kit (2x8GB) 3200MHz DDR4 CL16 DIMM
PSU: EVGA power 110-BQ-0650-V2 650w
OS: windows 11
GPU: Asus Dual 580 8gb
Western Digital WDS500G2B0B WD Blue 500GB 3D NAND Internal SSD M.2 SATA
Enermax Liqmax II 120S
Seagate Barracuda - HDD de TB (3,5, 64 MB caché SATA 6 GB/s up to 210 / Box NOX Hummer ZX Zero

Since I tried to install windows 11 and update my bios I have gotten tons of problems. Currently my board works if I reboot it everytime and it's a bit annoying. Also the net adapter works quite bad too, not sure if linked to windows 11 or the board.

I thought about getting a new motherboard but I don't want to spend much more of what I spent when I got the x470 some years ago. I use the PC to play some games like project cars , battlefront or F1 2022. It's not that I need the latest graphics.

Could you recommend me a replacement for my board that will be compatible with my current setup ? I tried to look online but it's been long since I was looking for components and I'm a bit rusty.
Any help would be appreciated.

Thank you in advance. This forum helped me a lot in the past, let's keep it this way haha

Solution
so at the end no new board was needed!

a friend found this thread and looks like many people had the same issue

booting the bios f61 and then back to the latest worked pretty well. I managed to have windows back again.
However, when I run TPM.msc, it tells me that compatible TPM cannot be found.
Now that you have updated the BIOS, try clearing it. You might have some residual settings that are causing issues.

As for a replacement, doesn't look like you have anything too fancy, so you have your pick of boards.

Since AM4 is end of life and you have a relatively old CPU you actually have to careful when selecting a replacement, as the newest boards may no longer support Ryzen 2600 due to BIOS size limitations. (That could actually be your problem by the way, you may have updated too far, though they make no mention of losing support for Ryzen 2000, just some of the old Athlons)

Still plenty of B450 and X370 boards reasonably priced.

Not a lot of B550 board dropped 2600 in their compatibility though, especially in the lower end where it matters. The one that are commonly dropped are the older FX and Athlon AM4, or the lower end G series which annoyingly includes 2200 and 2400G.

But yeah, +1 on just going for B450 board. If OP needs X series because of Pcie connectivity limitation, go with used motherboard.

You think it would be better to update as well the CPU with the board ?
I don't think the rest of the components are too bad, so if I you think that updating the CPU and board at the same time would be a better combo, I can go the extra mile.

What do you mean with clearing it? I did disconnect everything + no battery for a whole night and I didn't manage to solve the issue. I'm out of ideas.

Thank you!

That would have cleared the CMOS, yes.

Might be worthwhile since you are troubleshooting.

B550 board and a Ryzen 5600. Some pretty decent bundles out there if you look around.
Hello,

well my motherboard is finally dead. I managed to make it work for some time but quite often I had to do a reset with the case button to make it start, otherwise it was stuck not even loading the bios
Also, when it loaded, the first time the wifi adapter was never recognized and I had to turn off and on again to make it work.

Now, I got a windows blue screen telling me I got the error 0x00000e9 unable to connect with the disk. I disconnected everything and still the error... well this is the top of the mountain, I decided to replace my board for a 550b and also change the cpu to the 5600 as Eximo proposed me.

I saw this two components here:

I did a fast check of my build in pcbuilder and pccheck (https://pc-builder.io/builds/CBVDgoEb) and all I got as possible problem is that my cooling might need an adapter for the m4 chips.

Enermax Liqmax 120S

Compatible avec sockets Intel LGA 775/1150/1155/1156/1366/2011 et AMD AM2/AM2+/AM3/AM3+/FM1/FM2/FM2+;
apparently is not available so either I print it https://fr.3dexport.com/3dmodel-adaptador-am4-enermax-liqmax-ii120s-444928.htm or I find it somewhere... However I think I can use the fan that comes with the CPU meanwhile.

Do you have any recommendations instead of the two links I put ? There are so many models of B550 that Im quite lost.
And last piece of advice, do you think it's better to do the upgrade instead of going for a b450 motherboard

Thank you in advance

Merci Eximo.

I just have one more question. So if I get the b550 I have to change the cpu as it does work with Ryzen 5600 but not with my current Ryzen 2600.
However, if I get a b450 board, it will work with my current CPU, and it would also work with a future Ryzen 5 with a bios update. (If I got the information right)
Warning: The MSI B450 TOMAHAWK MAX ATX AM4 Motherboard supports the AMD Ryzen 5 5600 3.5 GHz 6-Core Processor with BIOS version 7C02v3D. If the motherboard is using an older BIOS version, updating the BIOS will be necessary to support the CPU.

So, are the b550 boards much better so that is worth it to change the board and the cpu now or could I get a good b450 board so I can change the cpu later on ?

It may have been mentioned before, but B550 supports PCIe 4.0, which means that when you start slotting in newer GPUs and storage devices you will benefit from that.

B450 is compatible with the newer chips, but you will not gain PCIe 4.0 support with a newer CPU.

So you are kind of stuck. If you want the 2600 to work, you need to go with B450 or any motherboard that implicitly says it works with the 2600.
