I currently have a HP pavilion 500-242ea desktop PC with a radeon R5 235 installed.
The cooling fan in the video graphics card is making a heck of a noise.
I have completely cleaned the dust (what little there was) from all the fans but the noise persists.
What would be the best replacement card given the spec. of my PC.
Any help would be gratefully received.

Solution
The 730 will do the job, sure. I only mentioned the 1030 since it was newer and sometimes people want to choose from what's new. There are many, many cards which would get the job done, it's not practical to list them all, so I tend to focus on the new ones.
As far as i can see from HP's webpage (https://support.hp.com/id-en/document/c04058519), your PC has a discrete R5 235 GPU, but also an integrated GPU in the APU (the AMD A8-5500). Considering that the discrete GPU is very much low end, the integrated GPU might be perfectly fine too: i would remove the discrete card altogether, and use the APU instead. Otherwise, and assuming you don't game (which is likely, as the GPU you have is so low-end), basically any new GPU is ok for you, just pick the cheapeast you can find. If you are unsure what to buy, check prices in your prefered store, and come back here with a model name/number to ask.

Thanks Blas. I'm off to the MK computer fair tomorrow. I'll take the HP spec with me and ask around. I'll also get back to you before I commit to buying a replacement.

Good points, you should try to find a card with those specs (single slot, low profile, under 75W of power consumption) if you want to just replace the old one and not have to worry about compatibility. If you'd want to upgrade to a gaming card, we would have to check the size of the case, the availability of PCIe power cords from the power unit, etc.). Thank for the advice, dontlistentome :)

Many thanks Dontlistentome and Blas. Your information is taken on board and I'll see what's on offer at the Computer show here in Milton Keynes tomorrow.

Thanks again guys.

Thank you, to a complete technophobe like me, it's music to my ears.
