My 3 year old Lenovo Y50 laptop is getting a little slow and so I thought replacing the hard drive might be a good way to speed it up a bit. However, I need help choosing an SSD to go with as there seems to be a lot of options and to be honest, as a novice when it comes to this stuff, the options seem a little intimidating. Furthermore, I understand the SSD I choose to go with needs to be compatible with the current motherboard, and I'm concerned my motherboard may be too old to be compatible with current SSD's.
I first tried to identify the motherboard I have using this command prompt line I found online:
wmic baseboard get product, manufacturer, version, serialnumber
Which resulted in the following information:
Manufacturer: LENOVO
Product: Lenovo Y50-70
Serial Number: CB34942496
Version: 31900058WIN
Honestly, I'm not too sure what to do with this information and was hoping someone could point me in the right direction. Thanks!
