Hey all! I've never had to change a part on a laptop before. I was wondering if there are any safety precautions to take. I have worked with pc's and I know for example you need to switch off the power supply and wait a few seconds before you decide to do anything. Do we need to apply a similar approach to laptops? It has a battery this time so I'm really not sure. Thanks :)

While you're supposed to disconnect the battery, that can be fiddly and I believe the connector isn't rated for a lot of insertions.

The only advice I can say is when taking off the bottom part make sure to do it carefully because a lot of laptops have them clipped on in addition to being screwed into place. Also remove it carefully just in case there may be a cable caught on something or is connected to another thing.

Otherwise most drives should be unscrew the old one, slide it out, put the new one in, and reverse the process.
