I currently have a stock cooler on my Xeon E5-2670. If I'm going to replace the cooler, will I have to access the other side of the motherboard or could I use the same mount that I already have and just replace the brackets without having to get to the backside of my motherboard.

The reason why I ask is because I'm not sure how to access the other side of the motherboard. And obviously, it'd be easier if I could just re-use the existing mount.

Solution
You will need to use Noctuas hardware.
You either have to remove the motherboard and do it outside of the case, or remove the second side pane. Most modern cases have a cutout so you can get to the backplate easily, however not all cases have this.
