Trust me Archos is not even in the same league as this Apple Tablet as far as quality. I've played around with Archos and it is made up with cheap plastic. Also the Archos has a lot of software issues, it crashed on 3 of the 6 applications i opened up at the Mans store(BB ). The speakers on the Archos are horrible, if you want decent sound you have to use headphones. I think Archos needs to cure their software issues, put a high end speaker in and goto a alluminim case to give it a stronger and heavier feeling. Apple needs to produce something that rocks that's in the $ 900.00 price range.

[citation][nom]vant[/nom]Typical comment for someone who doesn't even know what the end product will be.Does your notebook have multitouch? Whoops, theres the deal breaker.[/citation]
There are no news about it and yet you know what it will do?

How about the new dell xps touch?

Huge fail at $1200. There is absolutely no way this will fly at that price point. I think at $600 it will maybe not flop but still fail. At $1200-$2000,seriously? Who would buy something so stupidly expensive and unnecessary? The Air was one thing, it was light and small but it was still a usable computer. Maybe the more Apple charges, the more people want their products. I wonder how many units must sell for Apple to even profit. I think even a $300 netbook is a stretch if you already have a laptop. That's still $300 you will never see again, and again, even netbooks can be usable laptops with keyboard,trackpad, standard OS and aps. I don't want to live in the Apple world!!!

And yet I want one. Just kidding. Sort of. I actually own an old fujitsu 10" tablet. It was fun but it drove me crazy and I only spent $200 on it. It still works but without a keyboard, it just took to long to do anything online. Passwords for every stupid website were a nightmare. And I got tired of reading the news on a 10" screen. 15" is so much easier - maybe my eyes are getting old.

don't forget the apple tax that will double the price of the time so it may be around $3000+

also a larger device may be good for videos and stuff but there is also a problem, the average iphone or ipod touch has so many smudges that you cant use them for video, touch screen is annoying and requires a lot of cleaning constantly.

You underestimate the stupidity of Apple followers. Apple has managed to take a linux distro, smear it up with a gui that consists of old fecal matter, slapped hardware on it that is three years behind, put their logo on it and tripled the at cost price.

Polishing a turd doesn't hide what it really is.

Being able to carry a vast library in a computer tablet has to be worth the price of admission to millions of individuals.

There are 6 billion humans on this planet. I have to believe there are several million like me who think carrying every conceivable reference work and stacks of books (fiction & non) with me when I travel is historic in its significance.

They can't get this thing on the market fast enough for me.

@Book Master
I don't know how fast you read, but I can read a 500 page book in 4-8 hours (equates to 62.5 - 125 pages an hour, or almost 1 - 2 pages per minute, depending on the size of the page and font. If I'm traveling on a plane, two books are enough. As for reference works, googling has been enough for me.

They can't get this thing on the market slow enough for me.

Exactly what is the point to this? To me it looks like an oversized iPod Touch. The iPod touch does all I would like it to do; play movies, music and occasional websurfing along with some descent apps. Plus it fits in my pocket. This thing will prolly do the exact same things, be twice as large and cost 4 times as much. So again I ask what is the point of this thing again?

what the hell... seriously just wtf? why are there people even disappointed by the price? they have heard of apple right? the only thing that apple has ever made that has had a good price is the iTouch, and as I hear it, thats just because they are trying to drive out the competition.
