I would rather have an unlocked Moto X or G class smartphone with a good five row keyboard and a bog battery.
What is with everybody but Rim dumping the keyboard?

While those high resolutions are nice but its not really need on a small display, at some point all those high resolutions are not needed since the human eye can't notice the difference. Its just becoming a marketing gimmick and I'm sure they just figure if they can make the public really think is better then the brain will think is better. A 64 bit cpu would be nice but not really needed at this point. What most of these companies should do to win over the public is work on improving the battery technology or improving the run time, I laugh seeing people tethered to a power cord because they are on it non-stop.

Yeah, and eventually, we'll see comments on Toms with each new phone asking, "but Can it run Crysis?" Don't get me wrong, that would be just plain awesome to run that game on a phone on its highest settings, then connect it to a monitor.

This actually annoys me. Why does my phone have so many pixels yet my Samsung screen uses 1080p? Stop fiddling with phones and make a decent desktop screen please samsung

While this seems to be overkill, in the world of tech you need to keep evolving or your DOA.
However, if 2560x1440 display on a phone can be done by 2014, the consumer Occulus Rift HD really seems more doable

I here you, but when you buy a great monitor, you probably keep it for a 5-6 years or more unless your a professional.
Average people get new phones every 2 years or less.

MultiplAds: soon smartphones will have a better screen resolutions than desktop computers

Well, many smartphones already have. The desktop is stuck in 1080p on 22-27 inches monitors. Smartphones have 1080 on 5 inches displays.

More accurate title: "Report: Samsung to use another functionally useless gimmick to get you to buy their ugly, bloated phones."

We're talking PHONES, that won't be reasonable above 6 inches. Sure a few companies make them bigger, but it's arguably a stupid idea to have a 7+ inch phone. So how in the world could you possibly need 2560x1440 on a 5-6 inch device? Between crippling battery life and graphics performance, this is the dumbest thing I've ever heard.

Its all marketing and making sure Samsung's products have better specs than iPhone even though it makes no true difference. Apple's approach is more functional but Samsung is all about appeasing the spec nerds.
