System Usage: Software Engineering (ie compiling, running emulators/VMs, etc), Graphics Design, and Video games.
Approximate Purchase Date: No rush, my current rig (2012) is fine. Figuring out what I should get in the next 2 weeks would be great though.
Budget Range: $2500~ CAD with tax+shipping.
Video Card: I added the 1080, but I'm not planning to get a new gfx card just yet. There seems to be a new 1080 Ti and price drops are incoming? I can use my old Radeon HD 6850 until prices settle. I'm not even sure if I need something as beefy as the 1080, but it seems pretty nice. I was also considering the 1070.
Preferred Website(s) for Parts: Don't really care, I'm fine ordering from multiple places.
Location: Canada, Ontario, Waterloo. We have a Canada Computers nearby, and not far from Mississauga where most Amazong + Newegg + NCIX things seem to ship.
Parts Preferences: Flexible, don't have brand loyalty. Whatever is a better value.
Overclocking: I'm open to it, but no plans to. If you think it would add value I'd be interested in hearing about it.
SLI or Crossfire: Sure if it's a better value.
Your Monitor Resolution: I currently have 2 1080p monitors. I'm going to replace them, either with 2 4k monitors or just another pair of 1080p. Haven't decided, open to your thoughts. The current ones can't wall mount and the one is dying, otherwise they are fine and I wouldn't replace them.

Additional Comments:
I currently have a Corsair 600T case. As long as it fits the CPU Cooler and graphics card I'm just going to re-use it. It's 5 years old, but so nice. If not then I would consider a Full Tower case or anything that has good cable management.

I'm mostly looking for feedback on whether the build works, and what you would improve. Either to save money with similar parts, or get a bit more value. I'm fine with going up in price a bit if the value is there, or saving a lot if the value lost is only a little.

My biggest concern is the motherboard. There are so many options and I was just overwhelmed and picked something that seemed to work. I really liked the back panel on the Asus Maximus Hero IX, but $300 for a mobo? Seemed intense.

Either you get a Z270 motherboard or drop down to the locked 7700 non-K.

The unlocked K can't overclock on MB with the B250 chipset and you'll just end up with a CPU that draws more power and generate more heat than its locked equivalent.

Very nice! Ryzen has given me more pause to wait for more benchmarks + data to come in, and since 1080 Ti comes out in a few days, might as well wait for that too.
