Requirements for adding more ram that include more storage than my previous sticks?

So, as a person who uses heavy effects on Adobe After Effects, ram previewing is difficult to do as it takes up a lot of time to load the previewing. I would really like to give After Effects more ram privileges to run better and shorten ram previewing times. But I already gave around the maximum amount of storage privileges I can to the program. I currently have 2x4gb ram sticks in my pc, Kingston - HyperX Fury Black 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR4-2133 Memory to be uber specific.(Also, if anyone knows any tips other than ones relating ram to speed up ram previewing in AE I would much appreciate that info too !)

I would like to get 2x8gb ram sticks so I have room to not have to worry about ram for a while.

Firstly, what sticks do you guys reccommend(I would say the maximum I can spend on them would be $190)?

Secondly (and mainly), what are the requirements I need to be able to mix the 2x4gb DDR4-2133 by Kingstons'? could I, say for example, mix it with 2x8 DDR4-2400's by Teams'?

Never a good idea to mix RAM SundownEditing 🙁 Especially from different manufacturers.
Best is to choose a single kit of RAM that have been tested and listed on the MB QVL and keep your current RAM as spares.

Hmmm I see. What if I were to instead of mix them, replace them? How would that go about? Would that also be a bad idea? I know it'll be an expensive one... :/

EDIT: Sorry, I just read through your reply a second time, apologies for not realizing that you pretty much answered my follow up question already ahah.... ah...

But now that I'm already typing this, what is the MB QVL? Is that like a list of what is and isn't compatible with my motherboard? If so, I use an msi motherboard if that info helps any, Z170A GAMING M7 ATX LGA1151 to be specific...

Choosing a single kit of 2x4 at the frequency your CPU will support will guarantee they will work out of the box.

If you want a recommendation I'd go with these. They are supported on your board for both Sky Lake and Kaby Lake.

It doesn't really get any cheaper than this for performance and the compatibility factor. But if you can find something then by all means.
I guess you could save a little money by going with a single stick of 16GB but then you'd be losing out on dual channel which is a must for performance in Adobe.
And you can always save up and buy another set of this exact RAM to upgrade from 16GB to 32GB down the road.

I have an Intel Core i5-6500 3.2GHz Quad-Core Processor

Recommended at 2400MHz

Corsair CMK16GX4M4A2400C14(Profile2) ver.4.23 These are a (2x8) kit with Samsung b-dies and top the list.
G.Skill F4-2400C15D-16GRB This kit are again (2x8) in blue if your colour coordinated
G.Skill F4-2400C15D-16GVS Same but in silver.
G.Skill F4-3000C15Q-32GVR with Samsung b-dies OC RAM but cheap for some reason.
HyperX HX424C15FBK2/16 a (2x8) kit but too expensive atm.
All these have Lifetime Warranty and have been tested.

You can get OC RAM which are for Overclocking but you need to know what your doing in Bios as changes to Primary Timings and Voltage are required.
OC RAM is generally used when editing large video files or rendering. 2400MHz RAM is just fine for gaming and general use.

BTW: Your i5 6500 CPU officially supports DDR4-1866/2133 so 3000MHz RAM is considered OC RAM. Why are G.Skill selling them cheaper.? you have to ask yourself.
