Hi all, I would like some instruction on how to properly pretty much reset my whole entire PC to it's original state. Keep in mind, I want to keep my windows 7. Everyone else I want to set back to default, if this is not possible, go ahead and tell me the instructions that will also format the windows software too. I know that this should be a shortcut kind of thing guiding me through this, but I built this PC, so it doesn't give me those Pre-Built company options sadly.
My HDD is WD 7200rpm 2TB and SSD is 120GB w.e, I want windows to run on the HDD not ssd, I have my reasons, please do not say, well I really recommend it!, or something. I simply want to get everything off of this thing, cause all these tutorials are assuming its prebuilt, and for all the people who built there own computer, you know what I'm talking about. Hopefully I gave enough information, please reply asap, this computer is slowing down due to all the crap on it. lol.

Hey,

This is easier than most people think but a little intimidating.

Backup your data

Download the windows7 iso and make a bootable usb drive
http://www.poweriso.com/tutorials/how-to-make-win7-bootable-usb-drive.htm

Download your motherboard driver before unless you have another computer. If you don't your network card may not function without the driver. Also download an antivirus and get it ready.

Restart computer, hit the boot menu key, you will have to figure that out based on your mobo and boot to the usb

Step by step simple windows install. I always recommend a clean install just wipe everything

Once your logged in.. just reinstall your programs and update your drivers (mobo, video card). INSTALL AN ANTIVIRUS FIRST THING.. I like avast free. Copy over the backed up data

If you're really paranoid you could unplug the interwebs until after the antivirus is installed.

Wait so you're saying that if i use that it will install me windows 7 into my usb? wat

Make sure to locate your Windows 7 CD Key. It should be on a sticker somewhere on the computer or download Keyfinder Magical Jelly Bean to get the CD key in Windows. Is this a custom build PC or from manufacture?

Custom built pc,

No No, instead of using a CD to install windows, you download and copy the CD image to a usb stick then use the usb stick to install windows onto your hard drive. If you have the Windows 7 disc then go ahead and use it but most of the time you dont get one with the computer.

And make sure to do what supasieu suggested if you're using a legit cd key.
