[SOLVED] Resizing windows after connecting/disconnecting from monitor.

I'm not sure if this is a fixable nuisance; I periodically switch between using my laptop (macbook pro) connected to a ultrawide monitor and then disconnecting and using the macbook by itself. The monitor is 34" so naturally I expand many of the window sizes, once I'm back using only my macbook screen, the window sizes of my various applications are the same size as I expanded or decreased them to when I was on the monitor. Is there any way to modify this so that when I'm on the laptop screen only, my window sizes are automatically back to a reasonable size? As I'm typing this, I'm realizing that this seems impossible to fix lol but maybe one of you has this same annoyance. Thanks in advance..
