Some programs on my system occasionally freeze. I then close them with the task manager and restart the PC. When I restart I get the following message: "Closing 1 app and restarting - To go back and save your work, click Cancel and finish what you need to do". The app that needs closing is "t". I've gone all over my PC, looking for "t.exe" but I can't find anything. Is this a known problem? Is there a way to trace this mysterious app?
No obvious entries in the Event Log, as far as I can see.

Specs: W10 (latest), 16 GB RAM, i7-9700F @ 3HGz

Cheers,
Marcel

it may not make much sense but often the things stopping you at shutdown can be startup applications

try doing a clean boot and see if you can find the problem that way

Try a clean boot and see if it changes anything - make sure to read instructions and make sure NOT to disable any microsoft services or windows won't load right - https://support.microsoft.com/en-au/help/929135/how-to-perform-a-clean-boot-in-windows

all it does is stops non microsoft programs loading at start up, easily reversed

if clean boot fixes it, it shows its likely a startup program. You should, over a number of startups. restart the programs you stopped to isolate the one that is to blame.

another options is look in autoruns and see if you can see it there
run as admin as it comes from Microsoft
https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/downloads/autoruns

I had a problem like that last year, it fixed itself with a version update of windows. There should be one of those in the next 2 weeks.

have you run anything like Malwarebytes to make sure its not malware? https://www.malwarebytes.com/mwb-download
