I need some help determining why this issue occurs. Thanks in advance. Computer profile: built in 2020; AMD Ryzen 7 3700x CPU; MSI MEG X570 Ace MB; SK Hynix 1TB P41 M.2 Boot Drive; Windows 10 Pro up-to-date.
The frustrating part is that this issue occurs sporadically. I awaken my PC from sleep, perform general morning email, news chores. A scheduled backup starts. This could be a full, differential or incremental backup. Sometimes, only sometimes, the PC will freeze, then restart.... into the BIOS / UEFI. The board explorer shows the M.2 slot that should contain the boot drive is empty!
I cannot save & exit - that will just restart back into UEFI. I have to cold shutdown (with the power button) then perform a cold start. The PC starts and boots into Windows just fine. There are no errors anywhere. No backup errors, no windows system or hardware errors. What in the world is going on?
I have found that if I restart the PC after waking from sleep, the scheduled backup will complete just fine. WHen it does boot normally, I can use the computer all day (with not a lot of stress) with no issues whatsoever. It's a reasonably fast machine. I've been super happy with it except for this issue.
How can I tell whether this is an SSD problem or a motherboard PCIe slot problem? I contacted the backup software support. They said there's nothing in their code that could cause this issue - it's got to be a hardware prob.
