[SOLVED] Restricting communication of a device

Hi, I have a device (fingerprint attendance machine) installed. The problem with the device is that it has no password protection. So anyone with access to the device wifi can access the device. Is there a way to restrict communication so that it will communicate (upload and download data) only with my computer?

You didn't provide enough info. How is it connected? Wireless? Wired ethernet? USB? What is the make and model of the reader?

layer 2+ vlans will give you network separation. most of the config is in the router. so you want an easy to configure router. you need layer2+ on every device that has more than 1 network. unifi is easy to work with and it all configures from one place. it has guest isolation on it's switches/aps.
