Sadly I don't have the box to put it in what else can I use to keep it from being damaged.

And the fan is connected to it also.

I usually give a credit card number so they send me a replacement up front .... then send the old one back in the box ... when they get it back, they credit ya card.

What socket does it fit? Some sockets are much more durable.

Visit a computer store that builds PCs, and ask for a spare holder/box.

Next time, save the box.

Lay it on aluminum foil in a drawer and don't disturb it until You reinstall it.
