Reusing heatsink from old motherboard on new motherboard?

Possible without damaging the old board/heatsink?
I have a Scythe Katana 2 Heatsink and I want to get a new board but reuse my CPU and heatsink.
Possible, without damaging the old board, or damaging the futureboard?

And if I want to change my CPU AFTER I've put the old one on the new mobo, would that be harmful or damaging to the system?

I've never changed a CPU like this before, I've always bought a new mobo/CPU at the same time.

Final option; should I just buy a new heatsink?

its easy to change motherboards, just read some guides on how to hold the CPU correctly so u dont damage the pins of the CPU. and make sure u have Thermal Compound for the heatsink

Make sure you heat up the HS before you remove it to make it easier to un-stick from the CPU.
