Revceiver not saying on and flashing red light

I have had the reciever for about 6 years, it has a red flashing light by the power button. I push the power button and the receiver comes on for about 5 seconds and then it goes to a blank screen on the TV
I am wondering if the receiver has gone out and needs to be replaced?

It sound like your receiver is going into protection. This can be caused by an internal fault but it also can be caused by a shorted speaker or speaker cable. Disconnect all the speakers from the unit and try to turn it on. If it does come on and stay on you need to check that there are no shorts in the speaker cables and then connect them one at a time and turn the receiver on to see if it goes into protection. One of the inputs could also cause this so if the speakers are fine then disconnect each input and see if that works.

My pioneer reciever does the same thing.
the clock keeps resetting to SUN 00:00
This happens to be the default time for the timer on the unit to turn on/off.
Reset the clock to the correct time and see how it operates then.
You will have to unplug the unit first and have only about 1 minute to set the clock before the timer goes to shutdown.
Try that.
