[citation][nom]hakesterman[/nom]Yeah, but think about how many people aren't downloading music because they are afraid they'll get sued.Yeah Right, It probably convinced a few hundred of the 20 million to stop downloading.[/citation]
They were trying to scare me? Huh, who knew?

[citation][nom]ssddx[/nom]This wasn't about money. This is about using scare tactics to get people to rethink what they are doing. Cops do the same thing on highways: they sit there to make you slow down.[/citation]
Only real reason I slow down is cause the cars in front of me do :p
I tend to look for traveling cops on highway, great way to get where you are going faster :) stick with them, people in front will move out of their way. Just don't follow when they got the lights on, that is a bad idea :p

The music and movie industries are already some of the most pathetic business's there are in existance today. With that being said im not surprised that they would top themselves at this point by spending $64 million just to gain $1.36 million. Serves them right by not letting the real authorities do their job. Why are the real authorities not cracking down on this on their own. Oh yeah because at the end of the day these business's just dont matter.

The RIAA are the real pirates.I was so glad to read how much they spent with so little returns in cash.Let me continue cause they will eventually run out of money. All artists nowadays should never aspire to be on a corporate label and have to sign with the RIAA.
DIY Your band and you can do as much as the big greedy stars. And you do it cooler than the limousine driving rich boys.

[citation][nom]blurr91[/nom]That's right. We have subsidized other first world nations on defense for more than 65 years. No other nation offers that service...for free.[/citation]

Dont be silly man, the only reason the USA goes to war is profit, come-on man every ten years, what other bloody country decides it needs a war every ten years, It keeps the USA economy going, Taxes int weapons, creating jobs and profit from sale of weapons fuelled by war!

Major General Smedley Darlington Butler, quotes about War:
War is just a racket. A racket is best described, I believe, as something that is not what it seems to the majority of people. Only a small inside group knows what it is about. It is conducted for the benefit of the very few at the expense of the masses.

Once again proving that people/organism that has power always take the long costly road to achieve absolutely nothing...

Pretty sad: 2012 is still too far away: Idiots like that need to get off of mother earth

[citation][nom]blurr91[/nom]How much oil do we get from Germany, France, Japan, and the UK?[/citation]
None, but they get nice cheap oil because you have the bulk of the US armed forces stationed in the Middle East. Thanks for that.

Jeez, wouldn't the money be better spent by distributing it to artists and what not instead of forking it over to a law firm?

[citation][nom]Pei-chen[/nom]Obamaconics, spend money to make money.Pun intended as he is also a lawyer.[/citation]
Generally spending SOMETHING, if not money, to make money is how real life works.

You spend your time at work to make money, you spend your skills, your energy to make money, And investing is all about using money to make more money. You need to learn more about Real Economics.

I said money and not something. Unless you are going to pull out some crazy equation that shows spending $100 = making $100, you had better go back to business school.

You have a fair point, spend $16 million, get $391 thousand.
Hmm.
Even with deterant value, unless they cause $15.5 million worth of piracy to convert directly to sales it is still a losing battle.

If anyone can show me how much illegal downloading has decreased, with a further figure to show how many of those who stopped pirating in order to pay, and that figure being over $15.5 million, I will happily say the RIAA has done something worthwhile.

However, I will happily point you to this site so you dont waste your time
