Hey, guys.
I have recently updated my gtx 950 for a 1070. It's now time to update my cpu because it seems to be bottlenecking my new gpu (i5 4460). I was looking for some i7 and was wondering which one of them would be the best. taking into account that my budget is limited and since i have a 1150 socket i will have to change my mobo and my ram too.
so, i've looked at the:
i7 7700k
i7 8700k
i7 7800X

(I will use it only for gaming). I don't know if it's really worth the extra bucks to get something higher than a 7700k.

Also, i looked at some i5 like the 7640X and was wondering if that would be enough to run my 1070 to its full potential.

Thank you guys in advance!

Maybe you just need to upgrade your i5 to i7 4770K or 4790K if you have Z mobo, otherwise get non-K. Upgrade to 16G memory if you have only 8 right now.

If you are on budget and prefer Intel, then consider i5 8400 which require Z370 mobo as you know.

I think i5 7640X and i7 7800 requires 2011 or 2066 socket motherboad

Yea you're right about the x series i assumed it was 1151 too.
I know i said i'm on a budget, but i also don't want to update my rig anytime soon. So i wanted to know if they're will be any real benefit of buying an i7 instead of an i5 taking into account that there is just a $100 difference.

Yea, i'm kind of reluctant to upgrading with an old cpu but i assume it would save me a lot of money. And yes i only have 8gb atm but my mobo only has two ram slots so i'll either have to buy a new mobo or two 8gb sticks.
And I want a "k" so i can overclock it.

However, thanks for your answers! :)
