[SOLVED] Rig upgrade questions

Since Windows 11 does not support the CPU in my current old rig, shown in my sig, I want to upgrade it. I have a few questions though. By the way, I use my current rig mainly for programming, never gaming.

I'm going to only upgrade the CPU, MB and RAM, leaving the rest of the components in the rig. Here's the PCPartsPicker list:

Questions:

The parts I have in my current rig are all about 8 to 9 years old.

1. Will the current cooler be sufficient for the i7-10700K CPU as it's rated at 125W? I'm reading reviews that it gets hot and I'm concerned the old cooler may not be able to handle the heat.

2. Is the PSU too old for the upgraded parts? e.g. would the integrity of the old capacitors in there be sufficient enough to handle the new parts?

3. Will any of the current rig components including the PSU and GPU cause a bottleneck with the new upgraded parts?

i was sitting here and looking at my response and i may have been hasty.....i was going to edit but then you reponded...anyway...

make a long story short id look at a all new pre-built. heres why....

i wouldnt use a 9 year old psu in ANY rebuild scenario. too sketchy.

as i said the gpu will bottleneck your parts choice.

as for the cooler...im not a heatsink specialist. im guessing its not compatible with the age of it.

not related but did your old mobo even support tri-channel memory kits?

hows your case? sufficient airflow? edit: just noticed the rosewill.

what do you use this rig for? gaming? productivity? producing?

but ya...whats your budget? you're going to be in "buy a new computer" territory. not an upgrade. the new core i3 pre-builts would be faster than your current rig.

Consider a 5600g/5700g.
Since you don't game use the igp and the stock cooler.

Psu....your call.... if you do decide to keep it get a can of air and give it a few shots from both directions.
You might be surprised at the amount of dust that comes out.
