Hi all,
Long time lurker first time poster. I built a new PC with a 9700K and a Z390-E. Booted on first try. Decided against my better judgement to update BIOS to latest version before installing Windows. Quick formatted a 32 GB USB drive using FAT32. Downloaded the latest driver (version 1602) and loaded onto USB drive (note I didn't rename the file to SZ390E as directed in the BIOS manual). Booted into BIOS and used ASUS EZ Flash 3 to apply the update. The update finished and the screen went black. I read this is a common occurrence. I left the computer for several hours just to be sure it was done updating. Came back several hours later and the computer was still running with a black screen. I switched the video cable between GPU and motherboard and didn't get a signal. I turned off the computer (had to long press the power switch). Turned on the computer again and I get no video signal, no beeps, no POST, and a solid red light for the "CPU" LED (indicating CPU trouble). The fans turn on and the motherboard and GPU lights are working. Please note this is a used motherboard I purchased on eBay (reputable seller, no signs of wear and tear on unit). The computer was working fine initially with this hardware configuration but now it appears I caused a major issue by attempting to update the BIOS.
Here is what I've tried (nothing has changed the symptoms):

Here is what I've tried (nothing has changed the symptoms):
- First thing I did was unplug all hard drives (power + data cables) and removing GPU.
- I kept the two matched RAM sticks in the same slots (according to mfg. recommendation) - this is because the system functioned properly before the BIOS update with the RAM in this configuration.
- Removed CPU and inspected pins. Reseated CPU.
- [Attempt to clear CMOS 1]: While running hold screwdriver on CLRTC pins for 10 seconds.
- [Attempt to clear CMOS 2]: Unplug power, remove motherboard battery, hold power button 15 seconds, jump CLRTC for 10 seconds, wait for 10 minutes, plug in power (leave motherboard battery out), power on.
- [Attempt to use ASUS CrashFree BIOS 3]: Format USB stick, downloaded first version of BIOS (version 0224), renamed to "SZ390E.CAP" (per BIOS manual), turned on computer, waited 2 minutes, inserted USB stick, waited for any response for ~90 seconds. If not, move USB to next slot, restart computer, repeat until all slots attempted.
