RM750X or RM650X

I'm using a GEFORCE® GTX 1070 GAMING X 8G gpu and an i7 6700K cpu on my current build (i'm not mentioning everything else since it's only a SSD, a HDD, disk drive and a few fans..). I've been using my old LC8850 v2.2 but I don't think it'l last much longer since I've been having random shut downs if I try going for higher resolutions and it's also a bit noisy.

I'm trying to decide which PSU to get, either the RM750X or RM650X. I realize the 650w one is probably enough, but I can get the 750w one for only a few euros more. Now.. are there any advantages in getting more wattage? Or should I just stick with the 650w one?

for reference, I can get the rm650x for 92€ and the rm750x for 99€..

Neither, I would save some money and get the RM550x. Unless you ever plan on doing SLI you'll never need anywhere near 750 or even 650w, and you're still well within the max efficency range.

550w or 650w is plenty of juice for your system, even if doing heavy overclocking,

The advantages of the larger unit would be increased efficiency under max load, as PSUs tend to be most efficient at around 50% of max load, and having some extra juice for future expansions (which is likely not necessary given the trend towards lower consumption components).
 
There CAN be an advantage to getting more wattage, if you plan correctly. Most PSUs are most efficient around 50% load, so it may be beneficial to get 100w higher to hit that sweet spot. However, we're talking maybe .5-1% more efficiency. Keeping the power usage lower compared to total capability will also make the psu last longer.

Keeping the above in mind, I'd go for the RM750x if you have to choose between those 2 psus. If you're willing to spend a bit more, I'd get an EVGA Supernova G3 variant. They've got insanely low ripple and a 10 year warranty.
 
Having a maximum power draw that's a lower percentage of the PSU's capacity also makes the PSU work less, increasing longevity. It's probably not a good idea to get a psu that's PERFECTLY suited to match his power draw in case he decides to expand in the future.
 


Its splitting hairs at this point, note the chart for the 550x I posted. I posted the caveat of SLI, other than doing that the only thing hes expanding by getting a bigger PSU is how much of his wallet hes giving up.

 
Something to keeping mind is that the 650w and 750w versions are where they divide the RMx series in size, with the 650w version being 150mm x 86mm x 160mm and the 750w version being 150mm x 86mm x 180mm. Depending on your case and form factor, it may be not allow longer PSUs like the RM750x.
