I have had the same issue; The mouse was stuck on a profile, and anything I did would not change the behaviour of the mouse when I clicked "Apply". The driver even kept crashing when I clicked "OK" (you can check if your driver has crashed by hovering the tray icon. If it disappears, the driver has crashed even though you can see it as a window on your screen). After a while, it even started crashing a few seconds after being opened. During my x hours of troubleshooting I have done so many random things that I can't really list them here, but here is what I think did the trick:
1. Uninstalled the driver
2. Reinstalled the driver
3. Ran "KoneXTDOptical Firmware Upgrade.exe" located in "C:\Program Files (x86)\ROCCAT\Kone XTD Optical Mouse\FWupdate"
4. Replugged the mouse to finish the firmware upgrade/reset (REMEMBER TO WAIT UNTIL THE PROGRAM TELLS YOU TO DO IT, OR YOU COULD BRICK YOUR MOUSE)
5. Ran "Kone XTD Optical Driver" from the Start Menu
6. Before the driver crashed (only had a few seconds before it would happen), quickly navigated to the "Advanced Control"-tab and hit the "Reset" button to reset the driver
I believe these were the steps it took to finally get it to work.
In addition, I also tried these steps before (in no particular order):
- Added an exclusion rule in Windows Defender for the folder "C:\Program Files (x86)\ROCCAT\"
- Added an exclusion rule in Windows Defender for the file "C:\Program Files (x86)\ROCCAT\Kone XTD Optical Mouse\KoneXTDOpticalMonitor.exe"
- Added an exclusion rule in Windows Defender for the file "C:\Program Files (x86)\ROCCAT\Kone XTD Optical Mouse\KoneXTDOpticalOption.exe"
- Selected "Run as administrator" for the files "KoneXTDOpticalMonitor.exe" and "KoneXTDOpticalOption.exe" in the Compatibility-tab in properties for each file
- Restarted the computer
- Deleted my custom profiles by pressing "Load profile", and deleting the profiles from the window that pops up
- Quit all programs I knew were safe to quit (like Steam, GameForge Live, Google Chrome, Logitech driver software, and other things I didn't need at the moment)
Hope this helps any of you and that someone is able to piece together a working solution from these steps.
Peace!
