Rocket league split screen 1 keyboard 1 game pad

Hi
I would like to play split screen rocket league however I can't cos I only have one controller. And I tried the unplug and replug technique and it didn't work. ( I have a wireless controller and reciver [Xbox 360]) no matter how many times I try either unplug and replug the reciver or disconnect the gampad and reconnect it won't work, any suggestions ?

What does not work with the controller? After plugging receiver in, you have to press/hold and then the search button on the controller. I don't know how to explain it better.
