Good day,

As with many people lately, facing issues getting into my bios.

ROG Strix x570-e gaming
5900x
ASUS GeForce RTX 3070 TUF Gaming OC 8GB GDDR6
G.SKILL 32GB (2x16GB) 3200MHz CL16

First day of install: Black screen/no boot/post

So I used the BIOS flashback to ASUS's updated BIOS (both their Version 2812 BETA and previous one Version 2802) which should be supported.
And great, seen something about new CPU installed and then now I always see the American Megatrends logo + my specs and:
"Please enter setup to recover BIOS setting"... some thing about raid configuration" and then "Press F1 to run Setup"

Pressing F1 does nothing. Also, prior to this screen, I get the ROG logo and stating press F2 or DEL to go into bios and doesn't work for me. Well, I'm on a wireless K780 keyboard so K2 switches I think to bluetooth but DEL works AND when I press ALT + CTRL + DEL it reboots so my keys should work (except F2).

I've taken out the CMOS battery and put back and same screen.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

You don't have incompatible parts. That board and that CPU should work.

  • Shutdown PC
  • Turn off PSU switch
  • Unplug from wall
  • Press the power button and keep it pressed for 15 seconds
  • Remove the battery
  • Come back after 10 mins
  • Put back the battery
  • Plug in the wall
  • Flip the PSU switch to on
  • Turn on the system
It's times like these where you need a USB driven wired keyboard to mash that Del key. Also, have you tried removing the CMOS battery from the board while the system is powered down and disconnected from the wall for at least 15 mins after the BIOS flash had ended?

I'd also ask you how you got the BIOS onto the pen drive and the process of flashing the BIOS. Did you follow the instructions stated on their support page?

Hi @Lutfij, thanks for your response.

I did remove the battery but now that I think of it, it might have been plugged in (but PSU turned off). I'll try that.

For BIOS, yes, I followed ASUS's instructions and it work, I mean, before with the old bios nothing worked but with the new one + BETA, it went to that screen only.

Also, I'll try to buy a cheap wired keyboard and hope for the best.

First build in over 8 years and so frustrating as I don't want to pay a repair shop for a diagnosis where I have a feeling it will most likely be an issue where I have to return mobo or.... :)

Thanks again!

edit - also, anyone know what a typical return policy for not having compatible parts? Do shops usually accept such returns?
