ROG Swift G-SYNC light always on

Hi guys

On the weekend my ROG Swift's g-sync light is always on, even when I am just on desktop. Also the games I have G-SYNC turned off for in the NVIDIA Control Panel, now have the red light on when playing.

I can only seem to get the red light turn white again when I untick 'Enable G-SYNC' in the NVIDIA Control Panel. However before the weekend the monitor worked fine with the red light only coming on for games I had enabled G-SYNC. Also when I was on desktop the red light would go off and my monitor would be in 'Normal' mode. This issue has now stopped me from using ULMB mode as the monitor is stuck in 'NVIDIA G-SYNC' mode, unless I disable in the control panel.

I am running the latest NVIDIA driver which was released for GTA V. I found on the ROG forum someone mentioned that this is normal with the latest and it is supposed to be on now but when I contacted ASUS they didn't confirm this. They suggested selecting the reset option on the monitor and after I said about the driver they suggested to try installing the latest available driver directly from the developer excluding that specific patch. I'm a bit doubtful that this will work.

I was wondering has anyone else with a ROG Swift been having this issue and whether they have been able to resolve it, or if this is due to the latest driver and it is supposed to happen?

Thanks for reading my question any help is really appreciated.

Talk about first world problems! I say that this is NOT an issue at all. So what if G-Sync is turned on? If it doesn't negatively affect your experience while in desktop mode, then what's the problem? If you hate having to switch G-Sync off manually by using the function built into the Nvidia control panel, then just use the older drivers until the issue is fixed. Please don't complain just to complain. FYI, I own an Asus ROG Swift and noticed the monitor light turning to red indicating G-Sync was enabled in desktop mode and didn't notice any difference.

I'm having the exact same issue. Happend right after installing the latest drivers. Will it hurt anything, I am not sure. as to Ningawithagun. Yep it's totally a first world problem, but after saving for months to purchase this monitor because it has all the specs I wanted a monitor to have for at least as long as my previous monitor lasted (almost 10 years) it had better work as advertised. End of story. If anyone out there has any suggestions how to remedy this situation please let us know. I'm going to install previous drivers to see if that will fix the problem and report back.

So far, I have not noticed any issues that affect regular desktop activities or playing back movies. If you are really concerned about this issue, then I would recommend manually disabling/enabling G-Sync as needed until Nvidia fixes the issue with a future driver update.

I have the exact same problem, and got it at the exact same time. So, basically, I think we can all agree it's a driver issue (it happened after updating), and not the monitor (which is a relief). I'm not complaining because it's always activated though (I don't mind it), but I'm just too uncertain if it works as it should, because I seem to suffer some stuttering at times that I can't remember being there before. It's the uncertainty that's killing me. 😛

Thanks for the replays guys. I rolled back my NVIDIA driver which solved the problem. I think if you want the latest drivers we are just gonna have to put up with GSYNC always being on.

Talwyn I had the same uncertainty feeling as well as to whether it was working as it should.

Ninjawithagun thank you for your reply but I wasn't complaining just to complain I was mainly trying to see if anyone else had the same affect. I didn't mind it being on but I like the automatic GSYNC better and the easy way to activate low motion blur.
