Windows doesn't like the driver/software installed. Check that the driver is for the same version of windows. i.e., driver for XP 32 bit will not work for Win 7 64 bit.
Which printer are you trying to install drivers for?

Try uninstalling the current driver and then visit the printer's manufacturer website and install the driver for Windows (32-bit or 64-bit as mhelm1 said). If there is not a Windows 7 driver available, you can try installing the Vista driver in compatibilty mode. If you provide the make and model of the printer, we may be able to provide you with more information.

Cheers,

Hi,

You could find out the compatible printer drivers by checking the printer languages or printer emulations.

The communication between your system and printer takes place through emulations.

If the printer driver you are using is not compatible with your system, you could not be able to print your documents because the emulations transferred from computer could not be read by the printers.

Some of the common printer languages could be Post Script Variants: Post Script Level 1, Post Script Level 2, Post Script Level 3, Page Control Language or PCL, KPDL, PPDL etc.
