Hahahahaha, Internet does not make people stupic, I really think that this guy is angry since everydoy can just download free things over the internet instead paying for them, I am not going to pay $12 to get a book about Christopher Columbus I just want to know the year that he discovers America! I mean thinks are easier nowdays that what they use to be, when this guy gets his degree they where simple maths! now we have complex things that he is not even going to understand! Time changes and people does also, so you have to adjust to it.

Many of you people seem to have no idea of the difference between memorizing facts and intelligence. For example, who would say a person who is skilled at using search engines to find valuable information is more stupid than someone who knows the capitals of dozens of countries and knows lots of phone numbers?

This is the same nonsense that said math students are dumber for having calculators instead of slide rules

I would expect nothing else from Ron Jeremy, but am disappointed with the proportion of TH forumgoers who think the same thing.

The thing Ron fails to take into account is that you aren't considered smart by how many useless facts, dates, etc you can remember. It's how you use information. I don't need to remember stupid dates anymore so all the information I'm retaining and using is more relevant to whatever I may be doing. We don't need to stuff our heads with facts anymore because it's all recorded already and easily accessible. When he was growing up encyclopaedia's were the only way of storing information and were cumbersome to use so you had to memorise large bits of it. These days I can spend more time on the application of this knowledge rather than simply retrieving it. So the way I see it is that people today are smart but in a different way to people of previous generations.
