I'm trying to do an ultracheap build to challenge myself to do a build under $200. I chose the Rosewill FBM-01 MicroATX Mini Tower Case and the Thermaltake CL-P0497 49.2 CFM Rifle Bearing CPU Cooler (sorry I copied these model names from PCPartPicker so the names are long). PCPartPicker says these parts may be incompatible with each other.

Could anyone verify compatibilty/has anyone done a build with these parts and can verify that they are compatible with each other? Newegg has a horrible return policy and I'd rather not buy these parts and then find that they don't work with each other.

The FBM-01 will fit a surprisingly large cooler. Not a 120mm fan cooler, but it'll fit a Hyper TX3 (non-evo, wasn't out at the time) with a couple mm to spare. At least, I easily fit a tx3 into the fbm-01 that is now my foot rest.

I would mod that case first thing and cut out the mesh-looking stuff that sits in front of the intake fan. Increases airflow through the case by a lot more than you'd think. The Rosewill fan that comes with the case is surprisingly good too.
I can't imagine the cooler being to tall for the case. It is only 63mm tall. Maybe they meant it was incompatible with the motherboard (socket) you are using?

Btw, done that same thing myself. Challenged myself to do an ultra low budget gaming PC build. Might try again now that technology has marched on some. But damn, those little cases are a pain to work in and cable manage.
