Hi there,

I currently play games on a wireless connection and as expected, I often lag and it really gets annoying. I'm on the second floor while my router is in the basement.

Yes, I know this is a bad placement of the router, but that was when I did not play games and it was my parents decision as they weren't educated on "ideal" router placements. Anyways, I do not want to move the router as it would be a real hassle and really confusing on how the router is currently setup, so relocating the router would be the last resort.

I'm not sure if this is possible, but I'll just go ahead and say it. I was wondering if it's possible to buy some kind of device that I can place in my room that can wirelessly connect to the router in the basement, and with that device I can connect an Ethernet cord to my pc, so i can get a better/strong connection. Is that even a thing? Or the only way is for me to move my router?

Thanks

You can try for a wireless extender. They extend the range of your WiFi and most can be connected to by ethernet. If you get one, make sure it has a maximum speed ABOVE your current internet speed. However, powerline adapters do sometimes reduce your WiFi speed a lot.
