I have an msi radix ax-6600 that loses connection for a minute every saturday at 3pm est exactly. I have tried to restart it and reset it but it still happens, I have thought of rma but I don't know how they could recreate this problem. I have also turned on and off the scheduled restart with no luck. Anyone have this kind of problem before? This all started after I set my router to what I thought was a secure dns, which ended up being a scam.

Router DNS cache stuff is very flaky. In theory if it works it should be able to run secure DNS for devices that do not support it directly. It is best to run secure dns from the end device so it is end to end. It does not take much to make it work. It just has to have the feature to encrypt the traffic and then you use one of the common DNS servers that support encrypted DNS. 8.8.8.8 and 1.1.1.1 are google and cloudflare. There are a few other smaller ones that also work since google and cloudflare themselves likely collect lots of information.

In any case dns does not cause a issue like you report. Dns is only done when say a web page is first opened. The PC then keep that information in a buffer for a short period of time and does not ask again.

Do the logs say anything in the router. Could the ISP be dropping the internet at that time.

Thank you for your in depth reply. I had set the dns from the router to a dns that I found in an article about security that ended up being a scam. I usually use 1.1.1.2 or quad9 but the one time I tried this sketchy dns this happened. It might have nothing to do with it just what had happened prior to the random disconnects. Also I did not know it is also good to set the dns from device itself.
I see what you're saying tho that it should not affect the router. I did not check logs which is a great idea, and it is very likely that the isp could be dropping the connection. The router itself performs amazingly I just haven't been able to troubleshoot this wonky symptom.
