Hello, looking for someone to make up my mind for me since I've been doing research now for nearly a week and have gotten nowhere...

At first I was sold on getting a monitor with a fast refresh rate, most likely the ASUS VG248QE. However, I then realized I won't be playing any online FPS and started to reconsider.

I am a heavy gamer but mostly RPG's and a few strategy games. I will play some FPS campaigns but not too worried about refresh rate for those. I will also be using this monitor a lot for internet browsing as well as word processing which is why I have now started to lean towards an IPS panel.

Yes I can push above 60FPS in most games, here is my build if it helps:

4670k 3.4ghz
gtx 760
gigabyte ud3h
corsair pro 8gb 1866
i have a cpu cooler installed so can overclock too but havent yet

so basically my question is.... does the higher refresh rate (mostly for RPG/RTS games) outweigh the colour/clarity of an IPS monitor both during playing these games, and for other computer tasks?

thanks!

you are welcomed,

in LCD , model numbers means nothing, each Monitor will have a completely different panel. so you est them all even if the same Line ... even if they have the same panel , added chips can make a huge difference as well.

Generally talking , dont take less than 8bit , 10 are the best for colors , and 14 are around from NEC but too much.

I dont know about the pb238q cant find any reviews...
the only thing that a 144hz/120hz low response time will bring you for RTS is pleasure cause you dont really need it compared to FPS where you need to react really fast per exemple if a guys cross a wall or whatever the situation is.

but in the other hand ive buyed the Asus 248QE and its probably the best money ive spend in my life and i play both Counter-Strike(FPS) and Starcraft2(RTS) the ''smoothness'' that this screen bring you is awesome and btw dont watch video to actually see the effect cause you wont see unless you see it InRealLife
