I have a Coolmaster rs-850, which I purchased years ago. I was running a HD6870 vide card for about a year and now I upgraded to a Sapphire 7970 but I have ran into a bit of a problem. My current card uses two 6pin PCIe connectors but the 7970 is going to need 2, 8pin PCIe connectors. Both cards run at 500W so the power should not be an issue but my problem is that my version of the PSU does not have any 8pin PCIe connectors. I was thinking of using a 6pin to 8pin converter cable and the LP4 to 8pin cable that comes with the card. I am not an expert on power supplies but do you guys think this will work or am I SOL and should I get a new PSU? And I will only be running one video card.
