That is true, but you mention a 95watt tdp version when i talk about 125watt tdp.

Just think that maybe the vrm might have issues with the power draw, not saying it is the problem, just maybe a thing to look at.
There are different version of the motherboard so he better look at the low left corner of the motherboard which he has so there will be no problem with maybe updatng the bios.

With Nvidia can you also try and reinstall the latest drivers, but use the "advanced option" where there is an option to check for a clean install.
Can also when in the advanced menue uncheck the "geforce experience" so that it won't get installed again.

So I've done a clean install of the drivers, done the things that Vic recommended and we're sort of back at square 1. PC crashed again, no BSOD, no sound, no indicator that something happened. The whole thing just froze, HDD light stopped blinking on the case and I had to do a force shutdown.

i can find memory corruption errors caused by scmndisp.sys (On google) which is that NETGEAR software I mentioned before. If you already uninstalled it, you might need to use something like revo uninstaller to get rid of the remains.

I found instructions how to remove them but its from 8 years ago and the steps don't match anymore.

Speedfan really needs to update his drivers

https://www.dropbox.com/s/2joy4phw8hpg29x/040818-33015-01.dmp?dl=0 Attempted execute of no execute memory again. I've gotten rid of the netgear drivers as much as I could but I can't find any cohesive instructions and revo uninstaller is useless in this situation.

I don't even have Speedfan on my computer.

I ran the dump file through the debugger and got the following information: https://pste.eu/p/DkqA.html

File: 040818-33015-01.dmp (Apr 8 2018 - 15:10:21)
BugCheck: [ATTEMPTED_EXECUTE_OF_NOEXECUTE_MEMORY (FC)]
Probably caused by: memory_corruption (Process: audiodg.exe)
Uptime: 0 Day(s), 2 Hour(s), 39 Min(s), and 58 Sec(s)

You do have a SpeedFan driver that is being loaded on your system, it's located here:
C:\WINDOWS\SysWOW64\speedfan.sys

I can't help you with this. Wait for additional replies. Good luck.

Realtek NICDRV 8169 PCIe GBE Family Controller driver
updated driver is located here:
http://www.realtek.com.tw/downloads/downloadsView.aspx?Langid=1&PNid=13&PFid=5&Level=5&Conn=4&DownTypeID=3&GetDown=false

note: good chance one of the other drivers caused corruption that caused this particular bugcheck.

your checksums and timestamps were not in some of your windows user interface drivers. You might want to start cmd.exe or powershell as an admin then run
dism.exe /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth
to see if you can get a new copy.
then attempt to apply your windows updates and see why your windows defender is not getting updated.

-------------
you have a custom usbfilter running but you are running on the generic Microsoft usb drivers.
\SystemRoot\system32\DRIVERS\usbfilter.sys Thu Nov 26 17:26:01 2015
I would remove it unless you know what it is doing. Not sure how to remove it. may have to use the fltmc.exe command. (start cmd.exe or powershell as an admin and fltmc.exe /? for help)
check windows control panel uninstall software to see if there is a motherboard usb utility that you could uninstall. maybe usb blocker utility.

uninstall this driver is bad news: (remove, memory corruption problems)
\SystemRoot\system32\DRIVERS\scmndisp.sys Mon May 28 00:51:48 2012
(download and run autoruns from here: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/downloads/autoruns find the menu item to hide Microsoft entries, hid them then select the drivers tab. you should be able to find the driver and unselect it to prevent it from loading or just delete it.

I would guess you are running your sata drive in ide mode:
\SystemRoot\System32\drivers\amdide64.sys Tue Dec 4 01:49:28 2012
google "how to change the sata mode from ide to AHCI mode without reinstalling windows"
(you have to make a registry change)

your motherboard sound driver is out of date: all versions were updated:
Realtek High Definition Audio Function Driver
get the new version from here:
http://www.realtek.com.tw/downloads/downloadsView.aspx?Langid=1&PNid=14&PFid=24&Level=4&Conn=3&DownTypeID=3&GetDown=false
(fixes some conflicts with the gpu sound driver)
\SystemRoot\system32\drivers\RTKVHD64.sys Tue Jul 7 04:13:02 2015

BIOS Release Date 12/16/2013

Processor Version AMD FX(tm)-8120 Eight-Core Processor

So I've gotten rid of the remainder of scmndisp which appeared in Autoruns (though it marked very clearly that the file was no longer there) and I got rid of the speedfan thing too. I've updated the audio driver.

Two questions remain, one about the custom usbfilter...I'm not really using anything like that to my knowledge. I have a Razer keyboard (it was cheap, felt silly not to get it as a first mechanical keyboard) with its own USB port but whether that has anything to do with it I don't know. I'm not familiar with usbfilters.

The other about the HDD. I'm not sure what the implications are of running it in ide mode as opposed to AHCI, this computer was built for me and initially ran on Windows 7 so whether it was a mistake of the person who built it or a remainder or Windows 7 I'm not really sure. It's something I'll look into but I also don't want to fry my data.

EDIT:

Updated the ethernet driver even though I did this at the previous suggestion, not sure if things aren't being updated or what.
Running DISM reported that the restoration completed successfully. Nothing else beyond that.

when you update the Ethernet driver you might need to select the new version as the default one to be used.
if you do not do that you may end up continuing to use the old driver as the default.
go to window control panel device driver and find the device properties and see if you can tell which one is loaded as the default. (old versions of windows don't show the driver dates in device manager)
you could also remove the old driver install packages (google "how to use pnputil.exe to remove drivers from the driver store" for instructions.

Your PC just wanted our attention again... I think gardenman is waiting for John to answer but I don't know how long that is as we all volunteers here and he may be busy. If neither replies in the next day I will send a pm to one...

Apologies for the delayed reply.

I did indeed update my sound drivers when John suggested it. However as I hinted at before, it seems like my PC just straight up does not allow updates to happen. Looking at the current driver date for Realtek Audio, it's giving me June 2017 which is about a year out of date if I go by the thread you linked.

However...No method of updating the driver from that thread works.

1. Right clicking the .cab file and installing from the context menu - I don't have the install option
2. Extracting the .cab file and browsing for drivers through Device Manager - Windows tells me I already have the best version of the driver installed and refuses to do anything
3. Using an elevated command prompt and the DISM command - I'm simply told the specified file doesn't exist.

I'm at my wit's end with this.

right click start
choose device manager
open sound, video & game controller
choose realtek HD Audio
right click it and choose properties
open driver tab
what driver number are you on? (One day I might update mine, I have 6.0.1.7745 from 2016) Latest is 6.0.1.8419)

Just see if windows is right

The realtek page for their drivers seems to go around in circles - http://www.realtek.com.tw/Downloads/downloadsCheck.aspx?Langid=1&PNid=24&PFid=24&Level=4&Conn=3&DownTypeID=3 - agreeing takes you to a page whcih just links back to original

I don't trust 3rd party sites (outside of tenforums) for drivers or there are plenty of choices, you just can't be sure what you get.

Well,. there is this option they show on another page: https://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/66170-cab-file-add-install-context-menu-windows-10-a.html

I am just guessing its the sound drivers based on audiods.exe crashed, and it being sound.

I scrolled back into the dawn of time (okay, Jan) and I never asked you to run driver verifer. There is a reason for that and mainly as it can put people into a boot loop

try running driver verifer, just read the instructions carefully. It is part of win 10 designed to find misbehaving drivers. It will cause BSOD, that is its job since it tests drivers.

note - do this before you start: sometimes this will put you into a boot loop so it helps to have a win 10 installer handy to get out again. Download the Windows 10 media creation tool and use it to make a win 10 installer on USB

Also helps to run system restore before hand to create a restore point to roll back to if necessary.
Once it bsod, upload the minidump file and we see what it shows us.

Below is just in case you get a boot loop

change boot order so USB is first, hdd second
boot from installer
on screen after languages, choose repair this pc, not install.
choose troubleshoot
choose advanced

either choose system restore here and roll back to restore point, or

choose start up options
hit the restart button
choose a safe mode (it doesn't matter which) by using number associated with it.
Pc will restart and load safe mode
Now open command Prompt
type verifer /reset and press enter
restart PC

I've managed to update the audio driver finally by extracting the .cab file to a different location. It is now definitely the latest one (it wasn't before). I ran Driver Verifier in the past and it sent me into a boot loop which is not something I'm entirely prepared to deal with right now.

Its why I don't suggest it unless I can't see any other way. Its also why I warn people to set up a system restore point and create a WIn 10 install disk so you can boot off it and run system restore.

Only other alternative I can think of is to go to here, read their posting instructions and see if they can figure it out for you. If they do, please come back and tell me what they say - https://www.tenforums.com/bsod-crashes-debugging/ (I am not giving up, just offering alternatives)

https://www.dropbox.com/s/uikfctezm2m39zh/052618-34937-01.dmp?dl=0 Another one...

I've posted on tenforums before, a few years ago with the same issue (it's been happening that long) they did their best and then my thread just died. Ran out of options I guess.
