Have you tried replacing thermal paste and new cooling pads, along with a custom fan curve in Msi Afterburner to cool the card with more aggressive fan cooling?

Unlike Gigabyte cooler, MSI one doesn't cool VRMs and RAM chips, that should be reason alone not to do it. 70 bucks seems a little pricey too.

Fix suggested repasting the heasink, which is a good call, but before than i would check the condition of those windforce fans. They can sometimes go bad,
if that is the case they can be replaced with surprisng ease. You sould be able to buy a replacement pair for as little as 10 bucks. I would also check for dust,
those windforce twin fan coolers can get easily clogged with dust. Adjusting fan curves can help tons too.
