Hi I currenty have a ASUS® H310-PLUS R2.0: ATX, DDR4, LGA1151, USB 3.1, SATA 6GB runniung a 6GB NVIDIA GEFORCE RTX 2060 - HDMI, DP - VR Ready . I am lookimg to upgrade to a Gigabyte Geforce RTX4070 12GB Winforce Graphics card. Can anybody shed any light as to whether this card is ok with my MB and if there are any better cards that I shoud be considering. My manual for the MB says I have a PCI express 3.0/2.0 x16 slot which is where the RTX 2060 is located. I play a few VR games on the Steam platform and I am looking for a more immersive experance

While the RTX2060 is OKish, Im wondering if a better graphics card would improve the display in VR . My OS is Win10 Home.
Thanks

Well, a few things.

What CPU?
What Power Supply?

RTX4070 is a 200W card, your 2060 is a 160W card. So the increase isn't much. However, 40 series cards can draw double their rating for brief periods which can cause older PSUs to shutdown/restart.

Hi Eximo Thanks for the reply. CPU is a Intel® Core™ i7 Eight Core Processor i7-9700 (3.0GHz) 12MB Cache and the power supply is a CORSAIR 550W VS SERIES™ VS-550 POWER SUPPLY. I've done a bit of research and it seems that the power supply at least should cope ok with the new card?

I can't imagine going to anything but a 4070 from a 2060 at this point. If you can save $400 for a GPU, you can save up $600. I disagree with the mob that the 4060s are all useless cards as everyone has different use patterns. But the're just not easy blanket recommendations. You can't go wrong with a 4070 and I think it's worth the extra money if you don't mind saving/spending it.
Hi d1olph Thanks for the reply. Yes i dont mind spending/saving a bit of cash for it!

I would not pair that PSU with a 4070.

A quality 650W is about the minimum you should use. Sadly these have risen in price a lot. So a compromise on a relatively inexpensive ATX 3.0 power supply which has the proper power connector for a 4070 as well as the over current specifications built in for handling sudden high power demand.
