[SOLVED] RTX 2060 vs 3060

I'm trying to upgrade my old Quadro 4000 for either a RTX 2060 or 3060. I see that they are a $100 difference with similar performance. Which one is worth it?

Is the price difference the same as the performance difference? If the 3060 is 25% faster but 50% more expensive, the answer is. just buy the 2060

Thats 100 bucks for about 20% more performance.
If you already owned a 2060, it wouldnt be worth it.
Choosing between the two given that price, 3060 hands down.

eh, sometimes it's also about balance, I'd rather have dual channel RAM than a 3060 and single channel

In that case go with whatever has the most VRAM. How much system RAM do you have?

Either get some more RAM and a 2060 or get a 3060. Either way if you're doing game development, you need RAM. I do a lot of work in Blender which can use all 64GB of my RAM in large scenes.

I guess getting the RTX 2060 would be better as I would need to get some more RAM. (I work in Unreal Engine)

I haven't used the Unreal editor much, last time I did anything was Unreal 3, back when 8GB of RAM was "a lot" and XP was still getting updates.

But from what I do know, if you're loading in a lot of assets, 16GB definitely isn't enough. Back when I used to make mods for NWN2 (a 2004 game), I'd have to close Internet Explorer and use a second PC for anything other than the modtools because I needed all the RAM.
