System is about 1.5 years old now and recently the GPU fan will kick into overdrive and cool the GPU off from 80c down to around 76-77c and then when it reaches 80 it does it again. This only happens when the system is under load. Thing is my system use to never do this, not sure if the GPU has never reached these temps before or what but I am concerned even though everything is perfectly stable.

Right now my idle temp is 39c and if I boot up FurMark or play any game that puts a load on the GPU, the temps will rise to around 79-80c and then it will trigger that fan to spin way higher. Normal or is my GPU on it's way out? Nothing is OCd.

I don't think the card is dying. Some software may of been changed recently that altered the 'fan curve' somehow or perhaps its always been like that but it only just started hitting around 80c due to some thermal paste drying up (but 1.5 years isnt that long for it to dry out) or other thermal factors like a hotter temperature in the room, dust buildup, maybe a case fan died etc

Have you ever blown your computer out with some compressed air? If no that might even do the trick on its own

Other then that you can set a custom fan curve to keep it from going completely full blast at 80c. I've never done this myself before as I've had no reason to mess with fan curves but I see a lot of people recommending MSI afterburner. That will allow...

That will allow you to modify the speed of the fan at certain temperature ranges so its not immediately kicking to 100% at 80c

That's exactly what I did after submitting this post. Hasn't even gone above like 71c now that I have a proper fan curve. I'm still a bit curious why I even needed to do this though, maybe as you suggested some software somewhere altered the stock fan curve, who knows..problem is fixed as of now.
