Good Morning Everyone,

I have a concern and I hope You can help me.

So I am planning to upgrade from MSI RTX 2080 TI Gaming X Trio to MSI RTX 3080 Gaming Z Trio LHR. (We have now in the market)
My questions:

  1. Do you think is it worth to upgrade?
  2. Is the 3080 going to have better performance than my 2080 Ti even if my motherboard has only pcie 3.0 slot?
  3. Is my CPU (10700k)is going to bottleneck the Vga in 1440p gaming?
I mean is it going to be good combo?

My pc specs:
Cpu: I7 10700K
CPU Cooler: Noctua NH-D15 Chromax Black
Motherboard: MSI Z490 UNIFY
Vga: MSI RTX 3080 Gaming Z Trio Lhr
PSU: Seasonic Focus Plus Platinum PX 850w
Ssd: 1tb Samsung 970 EVO Plus
Hdd: 2TB WD BLACK
Memory: 2x16gb Kingston Hyperx Fury 3200mhz
Case: Be Quiet Pure Base 500Dx
Display: Acer XB273UGS

Thanks for your replies.

The 3080 is faster, but I don't think it's worth it to upgrade from a 2080 Ti. If you will be keeping both GPUs, then I would say go for it (if you don't mind spending money on things you don't need.)
Not quite the same but I upgraded from a 2080 Super to a 3080 and was pleased with the upgrade for gaming at 1440p & 4K.

There is no performance difference between pcie 3.0 and 4.0. Cards today just don’t benefit from 4.0. NVIDIA when they released the 3080 they did all benchmarks on a 3.0 system.

A 10700k is plenty, no worries there. I’m using a 3700x and it works great, the 10700k is a bit faster. The 10700k is in the top tier of gaming CPU’s today, any alternative top end cpu would give negligible difference in performance.

Thanks guys for your help. At the end I decided to keep my 2080 Ti for a while. First because for now what I play and do on the pc is more than enough and for my 2k monitor I think it is overkill :). Second lets see the next generation how it will perform.

Thanks again.
