Hi, I'm new around here. I want to upgrade my PC but partially. Here's my current spec:

  • Ryzen 5 1600
  • Asrock AB350m-HDV
  • Corsair Vengeance 32gb 3200mhz
  • PSU Cougar 500w bronze
  • GTX 1050 Ti 4gb

For the 1st phase, I want to upgrade my GPU and PSU to:
  • Seasonic Focus Gold GX-750 - 750W Full Modular
  • ASUS Dual GeForce RTX 3070 V2 OC Edition 8GB GDDR6

And about 6 months later, I want to upgrade my processor and motherboard to:
  • Ryzen 5 5600x
  • Still searching for motherboard, but it's a b550m

So my question is, can I run my PC with 1st phase of my upgrade?
And yes I'm aware there will be a bottleneck, I'm currently running on 1080p. I heard from some friends, the motherboard couldn't handle the 3070.

It would become like this (and will be going for 6 months):
  • Ryzen 5 1600
  • Asrock AB350m-HDV
  • Corsair Vengeance 32gb 3200mhz
  • Seasonic Focus Gold GX-750 - 750W Full Modular
  • ASUS Dual GeForce RTX 3070 V2 OC Edition 8GB GDDR6

Thank you for your help

So my question is, can I run my PC with 1st phase of my upgrade?
Yes, no problem. However be aware that playing at 1080p you will not be able to fully utilize 3070 power in some games as this GPU is targeted more towards 2K resolution.

Nonsense. Pretty much any board from last 7 years can handle any GPU from last 10 years just fine. You could expect some bottlenecks when paring high end GPU with older motherboard but they would still work fine otherwise.

Ah I see, yes I’m gonna upgrade my monitor too within those 6 months to 2K 165hz.

My friend told me something about VRM or current stability, which I don’t understand. So it won’t be problem or “damage” the PC, right?

Anyway thank you for the answer. Sorry I just replied, I just went outside.
