Now my question is which versions are really "safe" from this issue? Should we hold off and stick to ONLY the versions using no POSCAPs? Should we outright hold off b/c the companies are likely to make revisions on future waves? Or do you guys think the companies will "recall" all the ones out now and fix them for free or swap them with better versions?

Solution
Seems like most board partners revising their custom board designs right now. See this article:
https://www.tomshardware.com/news/t...-nvidia-rtx-30-series-crash-to-desktop-issues
and this one:
https://www.tomshardware.com/news/m...force-rtx-3080-design-amid-stability-concerns

But the capacitor might only be one piece to the puzzle....it seems like the 3000 series chips operate kinda already at peek and seems like some driver optimizations fixed some of the stability issues and more so in the future. That in combination with the revised board designs (adding different capacitors) will probably take care of the issue.

I would wait a few weeks with the RXT 3080 purchase...

I would wait a few weeks with the RXT 3080 purchase, just to let the dust settle a little and make sure that you not getting one of the older boards before the revision (if some are still floating around at retailers, which I doubt, you can't get any right now anyway).

Besides that it seems ASUS only used the better capacitors on their cards, but some people think a mix of the capacitor types would be a better solution 2MLCCs and 4 POSCAPs vs 6 MLCCs. Since there are also downsides to MLCCs (supposedly they tend to pop and don't last as long for example).
