I just installed an rtx 3080 ti and it's using 120w at idle. My old gtx 1070 was using around 40w.

All I've done since getting the new gpu is uninstall the old drivers, put in the new card and installed the new drivers. Anyone got any ideas?

Nvidia control panel check Power Management and selektor 'normal'. In control panel select balanced power option and inside look at "PCI Express - Link State Power Management" and select 'off'.
Report results.

Is PCI Express - Link State Power Management located in Nvidia Control panel?

And I've already tried setting Power Management to normal and it made no difference.

Whenever I have my main monitor (5120x1440 240hz) turned on it causes my gpu to use over 100w of power when doing nothing even if it's the only monitor connected. As soon as I use just my second monitor (2560x1440 144hz) it fixed this high wattage issue. Anyone got any ideas?

I mean they will fix it when they fix it
I turned on multi monitor power management and it fixed the high power usage, but my monitors will start flickering a <Mod Edit> ton, got any ideas on how to stop it from flickering? (Other than turning off multi monitor power management obviously lol)

Hi all,

Turns out this was caused by my monitors. With my 3080 Ti, I had a 5120x1440 240hz monitor and 2560x1440 144hz monitor, this caused very high idle power consumption due to not wanting to go in to a lower powerstate. When one of the monitors were disconnected, the power consumption dropped to the normal 30w-40w like I had with my 1070.

I most likely did not suffer this issue with my 1070 as it could not output 240hz on my 5120x1440 monitor, it was limited to 120hz due to not supporting DSC (Display Stream Compression.

Thanks all for your help.
